A New Year to Be Present (And Let Someone Else Capture the Moment)

The start of a new year always invites reflection.

As we step into this next chapter, I keep coming back to one simple thought:

How much of our lives are we actually experiencing and how much are we watching through a screen?

So many of the moments that matter most happen at events meant to be celebrated, not documented by the people living them.

Weddings.
Birthday parties.
Milestone celebrations.
Brand launches.
Special events.

Yet so often, we spend these moments with our heads buried in our phones, trying to capture everything, and in the process, missing the experience itself.

Being Present Is the Real Luxury

There’s something powerful about being able to fully show up.

To laugh without worrying if you caught it on video.
To hug someone without holding a phone.
To do your job well without stopping to document it.
To actually enjoy the moment you worked so hard to create.

Presence is becoming rare, and that’s what makes it valuable.

When you hire a content creator, you give yourself permission to be in the moment, not managing it through a screen.

Your Role Isn’t to Capture - It’s to Experience (or Execute)

If you’re hosting an event, your role is to enjoy it.

If you’re a vendor, your role is to do what you do best:

  • plan

  • design

  • create

  • entertain

  • serve

  • lead

  • connect

Not to stop every five minutes to film shaky clips or snap rushed photos.

Trying to do both usually means neither is done well.

Professional content creation allows you to stay focused on your role while every meaningful moment is captured intentionally, beautifully, and without distraction.

One Moment, Fully Lived - Not Half Filmed

Some of the most meaningful moments I capture are the ones people didn’t even realize were happening:

  • kids laughing mid-play

  • parents watching from the sidelines

  • vendors in their creative flow

  • quiet breaths before a big moment

  • guests fully engaged, not scrolling

These moments don’t happen when people are thinking about their camera angle.

They happen when people feel safe enough to put their phones down.

Let This Be the Year You Choose Presence

As we move into a new year, this is your reminder:
You don’t need to document everything yourself for it to matter.

You deserve to:

  • enjoy your events

  • trust someone else to capture them

  • stay present with the people around you

  • relive it all later, without missing it the first time

Whether it’s a wedding, a child’s birthday, a brand event, a milestone celebration, or a night you never want to forget, you should be able to live it.

Looking Ahead

This year, I’m here to help you put your phone down and be present, while still walking away with beautiful, intentional content you can relive and share.

If you’re hosting an event, running a business, or celebrating something meaningful in Edmonton or Alberta, I’d love to capture it for you, so you don’t have to.

Here’s to a new year of presence, connection, and moments fully lived.
